Originally appearing as the B-Side of Anacron's buzz-generating "Rich Girls" single, "Schwing" ushered in a new era of underground fashion sense. Defined by Anacron as being an "anti-swag" approach to styling through which an individual can look their best with little to no effort, "Schwing" is a moniker that represents anyone that's able to be FRESH without trying too hard.
Rebooting the awesome self-produced track for the winter season, Anacron is joined by an awesome amalgamation of underground rap's most revered heavyweights, representing various corners of the United States: Tajai, original member of northern California's legendary Souls of Mischief and Hieroglyphics crew; Qwazaar, of Chicago's indie superheroes Typical Cats and experimental hip hop outfit Dirty Digital; Illspokinn, of Brooklyn's decade-long Freestyle Mondays rap series; and Firewater Redstarr, of St Louis-based crew of gangsters and Gods, Ridah Movement.
Each emcee entertainingly delves deeply into their own interpretation of how to do "Schwing", providing a well-rounded instructional aid for anyone that just doesn't get it. Then again, according to the terms provided by the philosophy of "Schwing", anyone that doesn't get it probably shouldn't try it.
Anacron provides two self-produced versions of the remix, each with it's own specific demographic styling. For the avid every-day hip hop listener, the "Nationwide Unfamous Remix" rides a rugged, club-, radio- and 'hood-accessible backing track. On the other hand, the "Dusty Vinyl Live Session Remix" digs a little deeper as Anacron steps away from the electronic production to flex his skill on an array of live instruments, building a track perfectly catered to the more acculturated underground and indie crate digger.
